Géiseres Medio Día (Día Completo Optativo)

Una de las excursiones obligatorias para todos los turistas es la que parte muy temprano por la mañana (entre 04h00 o 06h00 dependiendo de la estación). Localizado a 97 km al norte de San Pedro de Atacama, haciendo una parada después de cruzar el Río Puripica, estacionaremos el vehículo y Observando el Cielo Parte Dos se hace realidad. La llegada a los Géiseres ($ 3,500 o U$ 6.5 por persona) será antes de la Salida del sol (El mejor momento para observar las actividades geotérmicas es cuando el sol está apareciendo en la cordillera) La visita se hará en dos puntos, primero el lugar peligroso en donde se encuentran los  géiseres más grandes y en donde disfrutaremos del más completo y exquisito desayuno , también hay una piscina con agua caliente (Mi recomendación para ustedes si quieren tomar un baño es esperar que todos los turistas dejen el lugar, porque todas las agencias de turismo comienzan a retirarse de los géiseres aproximadamente a las 09h00, luego la piscina y los géiseres serán exclusivamente para nosotros) es importante saber que el 90% de las agencias de turismo van primero al área pasiva, pero cuando todos ellos vienen al área peligrosa nosotros vamos al área pasiva rodeando el campo geotérmico y parando en diversos puntos para observar fauna típica y ver los géiseres de barro. El Área pasiva es muy interesante porque producto del constante cambio de temperatura en el aire algunos géiseres arrojan chorros de agua caliente en forma intermitente que a veces pueden alcanzar alturas de hasta 5 metros. Cuando regresamos a San Pedro de Atacama nos detendremos en Río de Putana para observar una variedad de aves, volcanes y montañas, luego tomamos un desvío, tomando rumbo hacia Machuca, pequeño e interesante poblado en donde se puede degustar un exquisito anticucho de Llama, visita a su iglesia y observación de animales y aves típicas de la zona. El camino continúa y antes de llegar al río de Puripica será posible observar área de cactus gigante, optativo será la visita a las TERMAS DE PURITAMA ($ 5.000 o U$ 9 por persona).

Cuando desee después de los géiseres continuaremos ruta y nos detendremos en Quebrada Chita (barranco) vista maravillosa que con condiciones buenas de humedad se pueden ver los cerros de acopio de la mina de cobre de Chuquicamata, en el camino con suerte será posible ver muchos ANIMALES TIPICOS que se alimentan de los arbustos y plantas que existen en esas latitudes, luego llegamos al Pueblo de Caspana, quizá uno de los más típicos y hermosos de la región, la visita incluye: el pueblo Viejo en donde se localiza la iglesia y el parque arqueológico, museo Arqueológico, el pueblo en general y la escuela básica en donde se puede comprar muchos artesanía hecha por niños (trabajos muy interesantes), como las réplicas de antiguos dibujos indígenas realizadas en yeso o camisas, disfrute viendo joyas de plata y lapislázuli, mermelada de damasco, réplicas de casa en miniatura y otros. Regresando a nuestra ruta continuamos hasta el pequeño pueblo Chiu-Chiu que fue uno de los más importante antes de la guerra del pacífico y en donde se localiza una de la Iglesias más antiguas de Chile construida por los españoles (7 km antes de llegar a Chiu-Chiu hay un desvío al sur donde nos encontraremos con una pequeña laguna ubicada en el medio de desierto) En Chiu-Chiu es posible almorzar en el RESTAURANT MULEY con comida local (precio barato), 10 km al norte seguiremos al Pukara de Lasana ($ 1,000 o U$ 1.8 por persona) la fortaleza más antigua construida por los Atacameños siendo muy diferente a Quitor porque la finalidad se construyó como un pueblo y cuando los primeros invasores comenzaron a llegar, los atacameños construyeron dos muros defensivos y la convirtieron en fortaleza (entre Chiu-Chiu y Lasana hay muchos Petroglifos “Dibujos tallados en piedra”).

Geysers Half Day (Optional Full Day)

One of the obligatory excursions for all tourists is the hardest because it starts very early in the morning (between 04h00 or 06h00 depending season). It located at 97 km to the north but after cross Puripica River we’ll park and Sky Watching Part Two will do it. The arrival to the Geysers ($ 3,500 o U$ 6.5 por persona)will be before Sunrise (The best time to observe the geothermal activities is when the sun is rising) The visit will do in two point, first the dangerous place in where are the biggest geysers and we´ll wait the sunrise while we enjoy a delicious breakfast also there is a pool with hot water (My recommendation if you want to take a bath is when all tourist gone, because all tourism agency leave the geysers about 09h00 and the pool and the geysers will be only for us) is important know  who the 90% of tourism agency first go to quite place and when they come to dangerous area we go to quite area surrounded the geothermal field and stopping to watch typical fauna and see the mud geysers. The Quit Area is very interesting because for the change of temperature in the air produce who some geysers ejecting jets of hot water in intermittent form or overtaking heights up to 5 meters. When you decide we back to San Pedro de Atacama stopping in Putana River with a variety of birds and viewing of volcanoes then we take a detour and a few more time we arrive to Machuca a very small and interesting village in where you can try Lama meet barbecue, visit its church and watching a lot of typical animals and birds. The road continue and before arrive to Puripica river will be possible watch GIANT CACTUS AREA, optional will be the visit to PURITAMA HOT SPRING ( $ 5.000 or U$ 9 per person).

Optional Full Day

When you want after the geysers we’ll continue route and we’ll stop in Quebrada Chita (ravine) wonderful view who with good conditions of humidity can see Chuquicamata waste hill, in the road with lucky is possible find many animals eating the grasses, then arrival to CASPANA VILLAGE, maybe one the most typical and beautiful in this area, the visit includes: Old village in where is located the church and archaeological park, Archaeological museum, village in general and the elementary school in where you can buy a lot of handicrafts made by children (very interesting job) like Indian art painting in gypsum or shirt, jewel in silver and lapislazuli, apricot marmalade, replicas of house in miniature and other things. Returning our route we continue until Chiu-Chiu small village who was very important before pacific war and in where is located one of the oldest church in Chile built by Spaniards (7 km before arrive to Chiu-Chiu there is a detour to the south you can find a very interesting INCACOYA LAKE in the middle of desert) In Chiu-Chiu is possible eat in a MULEY RESTAURANT with local food (cheap price), 10 km to the north we’ll find PUKARA DE LASANA ( $ 1.000 or U$ 1,8 per person) the oldest fortress built by Atacameños this is complete different to Quitor because the finality was built a village and when the first invaders arrived the atacameños built two defensives wall and became in fortress (between Chiu-Chiu and Lasana there are a lot of Petrogliphs “Drawing Carved on the stones”).
